- Common symptoms of toenail fungus include:
- Yellowish or brownish nail discoloration,
- Brittle nails,
- Very soft or very thick nails that change their shape,
- Pain and itching,
- The nail detaching from the skin.
- Thankfully, toenail fungus is treatable and actually quite easy to get rid of. In fact, certain homemade remedies have been shown to be an effective treatment.
Toenail Fungus Remedy
For this homemade treatment, all you need are two main ingredients: white vinegar and baking soda.
Why those two?
Although baking soda cannot remove fungi on its own, it’s still a fungi-repellent that can also help neutralize foot odor.
As for white vinegar, it’s one of the best toenail fungus treatments, as it fights infections and helps restore the skin’s natural pH.
Ingredients:
- Baking soda, 4-5 tablespoons,
- White vinegar, 1 cup,
- Water.
Preparation:
Mix vinegar and baking soda with warm water and soak your feet in the solution for about 15-20 minutes. After you’re done, do not rinse your feet but make sure you dry them thoroughly.
For best results, repeat the process twice daily for a few weeks.
Tip: make sure you cut your nails often with clean, alcohol-wiped nail clippers.
