A lot of us struggle with the question of “how to look rich?” Many people, especially young adults, believe that spending huge sums of money on clothing and accessories would automatically make them look rich. Well, while there’s a level of truthfulness to that, I’d like to believe that money isn’t all that’s needed.

People associate money with success; a lot of people believe that to look rich, you have to be rich. But then, over and again, I have met people who aren’t so rich, yet, they have never failed to look cool.

And on the flip side, I have met super-rich people, but on the first impression, would make you think they were living below the U.S. average income. So, then, you’d agree with me that appearance really matters. Okay! Let’s dive right in on how to look rich and classy on a budget.

1.  Understand Your Fabrics

There are different kinds of fabrics. And each fabric has a unique type of maintenance, styling and sometimes usage. If you do not know your fabrics, you could go to a fabric store or ask your tailor.

Knowing your fabrics gives you an idea about what to buy. Polyester, Nylon, and Rayon – all man-made fiber – won’t hang properly on your body like natural wool or cotton fabrics.

There are times when I change my outfit for an event at the last minute because I suddenly realize that the material reflects a poor taste. Also, place great importance on the color of your fabric. I will discuss this under another outline.

2.  Tailor Your Clothes

Rich people wear fitted clothes. Wearing too big or small outfits never gives off a good first impression, except you’re going for a natural baggy look in casuals for a quick errand.

When you have a new outfit or design, take them to a tailor and let them get your measurements, and ensure the clothing is shaped to fit your body type and size almost perfectly. Why? Fitted clothes look better and more put together on your body.

You should build a good relationship with your tailor. If you do not have a tailor already, ensure you get one based on reviews or referrals within your budget.

3.  Quality Over Quantity

Being tight on cash can make it somewhat difficult to get quality outfits, but there’s always a loophole for everything. So please take your time shopping and look around the clothing shops near you for the best they have.

Also, check out clearance sales at the end of a season. You get quality outfits for a very affordable price. You necessarily don’t have to buy so many outfits at once. If you could buy them bit by bit, go ahead and purchase. But, don’t be lured into buying many low-quality outfits. Instead, save up and get the good ones.

Avoid buying trending clothes, as you are most likely shopping with a tight budget. Furthermore, trends will come and go after a while, and the clothes will become useless. Instead, get timeless clothes and watch your pockets breathe when trends pass.

4.  Get Tasteful Accessories

Accessories are the primary ingredients of your outfit. With the wrong choice of accessories, you risk ruining your look. You may think suitable accessories cost a lot, and you’re right.

Go to jewelry shops or a local jeweler in your area, or look for small businesses that make jewelry. You’d be surprised by the kind of treasures you’ll find in unlikely places.

After taking our time to pick your outfits, ensure you get the best accessories to match them. Your necklace, rings, and so on should work with your chosen outfit.

5.  Save Up By Looking For The Best Deals

This isn’t as easy as it sounds. First, you’d have to rigorously search out the best deals online and offline where you could get good clothes at affordable prices.

You could check out thrift stores for affordable second-hand clothes, they are life savers, and besides, no one can guess that your dress is thrift if you don’t announce it.

It’s nothing to be ashamed of; I always do it. I have a small friend who struggles to find her size online and offline. Thrift is her best friend, and she always looks good wearing them. A bonus in wearing thrift is that you hardly run across someone wearing the same outfit.

6.  Take Care Of Your Clothes

Taking care of your clothes regularly is one of the best ways to look your best. Iron your clothes carefully and systematically with the right temperature. Crisp and neatly iron shirts and trousers send a signal of wealth and elegance.

Truth be told, you can never look wealthy in crumpled and rough shirts. Wash your clothes with detergents that’ll ensure that the colors aren’t washed away. These things are vital to your goal on how to look rich.

Also, shoes are very important. Spend and invest in shoe-shining kits. There’s no excuse for leaving your home with dirty shoes. No excuse at all. And for storage, ensure that you store your clothes properly in the right and required temperature.

7.  Pay Attention To Details

The whole idea of how to look rich essentially hinges on how much you prioritize details. For guys, your outfits should be carefully chosen from your ties to your cufflinks, and for the ladies, your shoe size, earrings, etc.

Also, your color combination is of importance. You should ensure that your colors aren’t carelessly picked. Certain colors project maturity. Take out time to study what colors suits you, and you’ll be fine.

8.  Get Quality Leather Goods

Leather shoes, bags, and purses create an aura of wealth around you. But, you can’t look rich walking around with a pair of old, worn-out leather. So, for a start, you could do Brown Oxfords.

You can get high-quality leather at thrift shops. Try to go back a few decades and try vintage bags too. Store them properly too. Don’t let water ruin your leather belt, bags, shoes, and wristwatch.

9.  Pay Attention To Grooming

There’s no excuse for poor grooming. Every detail on your body should look its best. Your hair should be washed, conditioned and neatly styled.

Your nails, both finger and toenails, should always be clean and neatly trimmed whether you prefer to wear them long or not. Never look untidy. You can’t look wealthy if you can’t take care of yourself.

Do not neglect your dental hygiene either. White teeth add to the beauty of blinding smiles; invest in a dentist if you can.

10.  Avoid Logos

As flashy and fun as logos can be, they can also be very distracting. When they are logos plastered all over your outfit, it draws attention away from the look and focuses on the brand.

There are certain rumors that brands with quality outfits don’t crest huge logos on their clothes. So instead, opt for brands with a custom and unique style that separates them from other designers and speaks for itself.

11.  Wear More Black

Yep! I love black a lot. Black portrays maturity and confidence. For men, black gives an irresistible elegance that reflects classiness. And for the ladies, you know black adds this spring to your step.

Also, the color black is a very noticeable color and sets you apart when amid a large number of people. If you want to look all good and classy without breaking the bank, I suggest you look into having more black outfits.
